three!

Yesterday marked the three year anniversary of Teal and Polka Dots! I still can't believe it's been three years - time sure does fly - it's been a whirlwind year for sure. So in honor of the occasion, I thought it would be fun to do a third edition blogiversary Q&A.

What have you learned during the past year of blogging?
Interest definitely ebbs and flows. I feel like sometimes my blog is on point, the content is good and people and into it. Other times, people just aren't reading. Could be the time of year, could be the type of content. Mostly importantly, I've learned not to take any of it personally. I post on here for fun, and hopefully that's interesting to some, but if it's not, then that's okay too. :) I've also realized this blog will probably always be small, and I'm completely okay with that. I think the truly successful bloggers dedicate a significant amount of time to their spaces, and it shows. With everything that's happened in the past year - new house, new baby on the way, and keeping up with family, career and life, I realize I can't give this space the kind of attention that creates a truly successful blog.

favorite and least favorite outfits

What's your favorite/least favorite outfit you've blogged in the past year?
Ooo...that's a tough one. It's been a kinda weird year for outfits, since I've been pregnant for the majority of it (or at least it feels like way). One of my favorites was just a simple stripe dress with a long blush cardigan and booties. Not especially groundbreaking, but I liked the way I looked and felt in it. Ironically, one of my least favorites features the same dress and long cardigan - but the sandals, washed out pink color and accessories just made it a fail for me.

Will you keep blogging after the baby comes?
I don't know exactly what this space will look like after baby boy comes, but I do know I want to keep posting. I plan on taking a break after he's born so I can focus on our family and adjust to life with a newborn, but I fully intend to come back to blogging.

What's been on of your biggest challenges this year?
One of the most frustrating things that happened this year was when my rain boot blog photos were linked to porn on Pinterest. I felt exposed and angry that someone had taken something innocent and made it feel dirty. Did the person only find me on Pinterest, or have they stalked my blog and found out way to much about my life? Trying to decide exactly how much information to make public after the incident has be a big challenge. I want us to all be friends on here, and I want to be transparent about my life - and that includes my family, job, where I live - but now there's a big dose of fear about online exposure.

What are you looking forward to in the year to come?
I think the next year of blogging is going to be an interesting one, especially with the addition of a new baby. But I plan to keep up with outfit posts, and I'd really love to get back into doing some DIY/crafting posts (may favorite one from last year is definitely the nutcracker makeover).

Thank you so much to each and every one of you who takes the time to read this space. Your comments and encouragement are really what makes it all worth it. So here's to three years - and hopefully many more to come!
